Heritage Park Working Bee Calendar 2026

The park is run and maintained by the Friends of Heritage Park Rhododendron Gardens volunteers. Everyone is welcome to attend the monthly working bees at Heritage Park. Come for an hour or two or the day, bring gardening gloves, sun protection and gardening tools. Our garden convenor Charles or one of the crew will work with you. We always need help with dead heading the rhododendrons to encourage healthy growth and spring flowering. Find out more information here. Working bees begin at 9am, park in the car park and meet at the Chalet.

All January: No events scheduled but all are welcome to visit the park and do deadheading or weeding at any time.
21st February:Working bee followed by Trust meeting.
21st March: Working bee only (no Trust meeting). All welcome for Planning Session 1.30pm to 3pm.
18th April: Working bee followed by Trust meeting.
16th May: Working bee no Trust meeting.
20th June:Working bee followed by Trust meeting.
18th July:Working bee followed by Trust meeting.
15th August: Heritage Park AGM at 11:30am, followed by lunch. Informal working bee for anyone who wishes to from 9:00am (no Trust meeting).
19th September:Working bee followed by Trust meeting.
17th October:Working bee followed by Trust meeting.
21st November:'Blooming' Plant Sale. No working bee or Trust meeting.
5th December:Working bee followed by lunch and Trust meeting.

The Garden Committee will meet as and when required at times suitable to the team.

June and July

Come for a Winter Wander in the Park. Wrap up and come and see all the work our volunteers have been doing in the park over winter.

Preparations are underway for the "Blooming Plant Sale" at Heritage Park Rhododendron Gardens, 34 Haggerty St, Kimbolton, Manawatu-Rangitikei. Our volunteers are busy potting up a wide assortment of plants for our fund raiser plant sale held each November.  Come for a wander around in the gardens.

September

For the Early Bird Garden Enthusiasts - daffodils, rhododendrons and early perennials start flowering. Bring your dog on their lead or a cup-of-coffee for a spring wander through our10 acre garden. Heritage Park Rhododendron Garden, 34 Haggerty St, Kimbolton, Manawatu-Rangitikei. Open daily, daylight hours. October

Peak Rhododendron Flowering Season starts 01 October and runs to 30 November at Heritage Park Rhododendron Garden,  34 Haggerty St, Kimbolton, Manawatu-Rangitikei. A  park-like garden of rhododendron collections, specimen trees collections (including a Kowhai collection) , perennial gardens, and bulbs. Open daily, daylight hours. Entry fee $10 per adult.  Our helpful volunteers will be at the Chalet every day to take your entry fee and provide you with information. November

The "Blooming Plant Sale" is on Saturday November 21st 2026, 10am-3pm, at Heritage Park Rhododendron Gardens, 34 Haggerty St, Kimbolton, Manawatu-Rangitikei. Plants include a wide selection of unusual and hard to come by annuals, perennials, shrubs, ground cover plants and garden fillers, many sourced from our own volunteer's gardens. Be in quick!

December

Check out the azaleas, late flowering rhododendrons and perennials, and the reflecting ponds. Open daily, daylight hours. Entry fee $10 per adult.  Pay at gardens or online payment.
